First spring weekend away from home

It is spring! I have been spending my weekends home or around, mostly studying, decluttering and rewatching Mo Dao Zu Shi over and over again. As Monday was Victoria Day, I didn’t want to stay home just cleaning!

My original plan was to go to ZEC Lavigne for a camping / fishing weekend but with the kids being with me, ugly rain out there, I decided to go see Mike and Tanya in Sherbrooke.

Spence spent the day at home with me and we picked up Joe right after school to head out. The longest part of the trip was actually getting off the Island to reach the highway on the South Shore. I listened through the entire new album of Sleep Token before reaching the Jacques-Cartier bridge.

Once there, Mike and Tanya welcomed us and I crashed almost instantly, being quite exhausted and the weather being a bit too hot for life. The kids were quite entertained.

The next day the kids and I woke up quite early. Tanya had to study so we took uncle Mike for a little adventure. We went to Mont Bellevue and Spence and Joe survived through a 1.6 km hike! They were complaining and exhausted already after 800 m so we decided to turn around and go back.

We drove a bit along the Magog River and stopped at a random rest stop, where the kids had a blast just playing with rocks and chasing down the biggest frog they have ever seen.

We stopped at a camping spot when we reached the lake but at that point the rain was too intense and Spencer’s attitude was getting quite intense. Time to head back home.

Uncle Mike got some pretty cool videos of that monster frog

The afternoon was pretty relax. Nap, snacks, animes…. In the evening we played some card games and we finally created our DND characters and started a random improvised campaign, as setting everything up for beginners is overwhelming and discouraging. I obviously called my character Wei Wuxian, as he is my parallel self.

My phone background is so not Lan Zhan and Wei Ying….

Sunday morning I did regret going to bed so late, as I’m usually listening to podcasts in bed before 9 pm. Mike and I took the kids in the park and Johanna had a blast while Spence was being his antisocial self. I did get to cast in the river a few times…. But little man here wasn’t very nice to his uncle and the rain started pouring.

Party people
Definitely his mother’s son

We came back for lunch and watched a few fish videos before we headed back out for a little walk by the river, which is a corner away. No need to take the care. I got to cast so the river a bit until it was getting cold.

Then it was then time to go!

It wasn’t the craziest adventure but I find the weekend was a success, as we got to get outside despite the rain, see nature, try to fish, all without having to run places and be in a hurry. I really like those relaxing days with microadventures after this long winter.

Other random life updates:

I ordered my cosplay for the summer! Convention season is upon us! I first wanted to be Hua Cheng but I don’t think I’m badass enough. I decided to go for someone who’s loud, obnoxious, annoying, likes spicy food and drinks and that everyone wants to see dead… Wei Wuxian haha!

I intend to start selling guppies, mollies, shrimps and feeder colonies locally this summer, and I’m pretty excited about it!~

My orchids all bounced back from last year’s mealy bugs infestation and ALL my phalaenopsis are currently blooming! If my dendrobiums bloom, I feel like I’m ready for something more challenging.

I might do a ‘day in the life’ post and video soon…. stay tuned!

You can’t see me!
