The YouTube video is out for the first half of our roadtrip! Check it out here!
Day 3 of our road trip through the Rockies, we had an eggs & bacon breakfast at our campsite in Banff before wrapping up for the day. We packed up camp and headed to town, where Vanessa and Jenny got some souvenirs and we fueled up. Next thing you know, Vanessa got me a Mama Bear sweatshirt that I LOVE!
We headed to Lake Minnewanka before taking the TransCanada because we were so close and I was really excited to show the girls the Lake and the wildlife around.

We took the road through the forest until we got to the lake, and I was happy to see how impressed my friends were! Mission accomplished! We took a few picture, including one with Jenny’s Instax (I’m still not over mine being dead).
We headed down the road alongside the Lake, and stopped at Two Jack Lake, because every lake in the Rockies is worth stopping for.

We then took the TransCanada to Lake Louise, where I was surprised we got a parking spot! I was disappointed to see it was still frozen but everyone else enjoyed it. Another check in the box.
We stopped at the town for hydration and snacks, as what we had in the car was buried too deep down.

Right after Lake Louise the road splits between the TransCanada to British Columbia and 93N to Jasper. The 93 is also called the Icefields Parkways, being a road full of Glacier Mountains. It is a long road but one definitely worth taking!
We admired the Bow River along the way, took plenty of pictures and a few pee breaks. We were definitely not ones to try out the Glacier Sky Walk! We still took a break at the Columbia Ice Field.

We saw a black bear cub on the road! As if Jenny and Vanessa’s fear was finally justified. I ended up falling asleep, as Vanessa was driving. I slept through my favorite part, being Jasper. Once awake we had to go back, as they didn’t know where was the campsite.

I had reserved a spot at the Wapiti Campground and I obviously did a good job, as we had the best camping spot by the Athabasca River. It was totally prime real estate for a tent! There was a lot more grass for the kids to roam on and the River was right there.

We were so exhausted from the road trip, having so much distance to cover and so much to see and take pictures of that we didn’t go to town, even if I would’ve liked to go, as Jasper is one of my favorite place in the world and definitely my favorite in the Rockies.
As soon as we got there, we set up camp and started working on the fire. We had soup and potatoes (again) and it started raining so we hid in the tent for some cool chilling time. I haven’t had nice Gurlz Only time in so long! We definitely laughed a lot.

I put the kids to bed early, and we enjoyed the fire a bit more. I retreated to the tent first, totally forgetting to take my jacket and even hat (a Bass Pro Shop one, mind you) off.
The next morning we were awakened by Spence’s anger. This guy definitely doesn’t enjoy a sleeping bag, and enjoys camping even less!
I got up so late we only had an hour to pack up, so we saved breakfast for McDonald’s in Hinton. On our way there, I just stared all along out the window, remembering why I love the Rockies so much and find it to be one of the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. We even saw 2 grizzlies! More check in the box!
I totally forgot to dip my toes in the Athabasca River for the check in the box, but I’m hoping to do it next time, before we move out of Alberta!
I had so much fun, but there is also so many things I would’ve done differently, like not bringing a glass coffee press (that fell to the ground and broke as soon as we opened the trunk) or not planning such an ambitious drive for 4 days. My next post this week will be about what I would’ve planned, and done differently on a road trip through the Rockies as a Girl Gang and as a family!
