As the whole house is still asleep early on this Saturday morning and I’m eating dumplings and mushrooms for breakfast, I figured I would start packing for Vancouver.
I started with the basics yesterday : taking out the bags and suitcase and filling it with clothes, swimsuits, diapers and the like. Today is all about the gear ; to take pictures, record videos and just have fun.
James is flying there on the weekend as he has to show up to work, while I’m taking the kids in the car with me. He could bring what I forget but I want to learn to prepare better.
First Order of business : charge everything!

I use those Duracell Rechargeable Batteries for my frontal lamp, the RC car, my new Ilford analog camera and all the kids accessories. It’s one of the most fantastic purchases we’ve done lately.
I also got backup batteries from learning from my mistakes in Jasper.
I decided to take all my lenses with me. I don’t know how to use them all (my favorite is the 24 mm and it was even stuck on the body of the camera last time because I rarely switch lenses) but what a fantastic time to try to learn more!

My camera is a T7I that I bought two and a half years ago and there is still a lot I don’t know about it. Just last week I was watching tutorials on exposure on YouTube because I’m horrible with Manual mode.
I started using the base lens to record our videos for the YouTube Channel we just started. Check our first video here if you haven’t already!
All my lenses and lenses accessories fit in my favorite Pelican Case. Even though I’d like a bigger one, this one works perfectly and I will use it until it dies (but, will it ever die?)

I intend to do a time lapse video of the road trip. Some of you don’t know but I am obsessed with time lapses like these ones!
I was looking for a really cheap action camera (we both have ordinary salaries, if we got GoPros we wouldn’t be able to afford adventures!), so I got this CamPark that we are going to set up in the car today. I’m really excited about trying it out.
I also got this 5-Pack of Micro SD to be sure to have plenty of room to save. Once again, I’ve learned from our first time in Jasper.
We are now getting ready to head out and test the gadgets! I’ll see you all later!
